MARCELO BIELSA: EVERY GAME WE MAKE LOTS OF EFFORT - Leedsunited.com 13/12/21
Marcelo Bielsa has previewed the upcoming trip to face Premier League champions Manchester City, on Tuesday evening.
The Whites head to the Etihad Stadium inspired by the
memories of last season’s late victory there, but will be firmly aware of the
quality that Pep Guardiola’s side have.
Speaking ahead of the match, Bielsa updated everyone on the
injury situation within his squad.
He said: “There are no new injuries from the last game and
there are no players returning from injury.
“Pascal [Struijk] is not going to be available. The injury
that he has is really not very frequent, an explosive movement made two bones
in his feet collide together.
"That doesn’t generate an injury, but it has the effect
of a knock on his bone and that generates pain. I sincerely in my whole career
have never seen an injury like that.
“The same as Rodrigo’s injury which is in his heel, which
only disappears if the pain disappears, which I also haven’t seen in many
years.
"The specialists who treat it say there are very few
cases like this.”
On to the opposition, who currently occupy top spot in the
Premier League table, the Leeds United head coach stated that his side go into
every game trying to take the three points.
“Every game we make lots of effort to deserve to win,”
Bielsa explained.
“Sometimes it is possible and sometimes it is not. We have a
lot of hope we can obtain what we deserve and that means we get more points on
the board.
“At City, I always see a constant evolution of the variables
offensively. Players of different characteristics combine in different parts of
the pitch.
“There are so many combinations. Players of different
characteristics, central attackers out wide, offensive midfielders as
attackers, offensive midfielders as wingers.
“Different types of wingers, a tendency of making a diagonal
in behind or dropping in, the contribution of the fullbacks.
“The interpretation of the mixed midfielder as one more
offensive midfielder and a risk taking from the playing out from the back, that
is very big.”
