JAMIE SHACKLETON JOINS MILLWALL ON LOAN - Leedsunited.com 19/7/22

Image
Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton has joined Sky Bet Championship side Millwall, on a season-long loan deal. The 22-year-old academy graduate has played 79 times for the Whites since making his debut in 2018 and was a key part of the squad which so memorably gained promotion to the Premier League as champions, in the 2019/20 season. Since playing in the top-flight, Shackleton has made 27 appearances throughout the last two seasons and he will now link up with fellow academy graduate Charlie Cresswell at The Den, after the defender also joined the Lions on loan for the upcoming campaign. Shackleton will now be looking to help Millwall as the side aim to build on a ninth-place finish in the second-tier last season. We wish Jamie the best of luck during his time away from the club.

Key transfer window decisions ahead after plans went awry for Leeds United academy graduates - YEP 14/6/22

The 2021/22 season did not go quite as planned for a trio who grew up together at Leeds United. By Graham Smyth On the night that the Championship title was celebrated at Elland Road, Jamie Shackleton, Robbie Gotts and Alfie McCalmont were always going to pose for a trophy photo together. Having accompanied each other up through the ranks, from baby-faced young boys to baby-faced young men, they had been pictured together for years. What their boyhood club achieved that night, the very thing that all three had been dreaming about since they signed forms at nine, was the thing that essentially brought an end to their time as team-mates. Amid the champagne-soaked celebrations, the sobering thought that things could be about to change likely dawned briefly on all three. Neither McCalmont nor Academy Player of the Year Gotts were going to get Premier League minutes so, in the autumn of 2020, they moved out on loan to Oldham Athletic and Lincoln City respectively, leaving Shackleton...

Leeds United have been struck down by simultaneous injuries this season leading supporters to question whether the club will engage in any January transfer business Leeds United have often arrived at Elland Road and various away grounds this season with a skeleton crew prepared to do battle in the Premier League. This has largely been due to the several, unfortunate and simultaneous injuries suffered by Leeds' key senior players. Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell all face lengthy spells on the sidelines, as confirmed by Marcelo Bielsa in this morning's press conference. Pascal Struijk and Rodrigo Moreno remain in the treatment room, recuperating from separate foot injuries, although it is not expected they will be absent until March like Phillips or Cooper. Fortunately, Bielsa was able to reveal Diego Llorente had overcome a bout of COVID-19, whilst Daniel James and Junior Firpo would be available for selection once more after injury...
