ADAM FORSHAW: I WANT TO KICK ON AGAIN - Leedsunited.com 14/1/22
Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw spoke to LUTV after signing a new contract with the club.
The midfielder has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal,
running until the summer of 2023.
After making a successful return from a long injury period
of 22 months, Forshaw has made 15 appearances for the Whites this season and he
spoke of his delight at committing his future to the club.
“I’m happy and proud, I’ve worked hard to get to this
point,” said Forshaw.
“I kept going, working and chipping away every day with the
physios and fitness coaches and I’m fortunate to be in this position again.
“The biggest battle was getting pain free and fit and once I
knew I would be pain free and withstand the load, I was confident in my ability
that I could get back to the required level, it was just the first hurdle I had
to get over.
“After the Leicester City game that really gave me the
confidence that I was back and I’ve been able to carry on playing games after
that, so I’m really pleased.
“I have a lot to thank Marcelo Bielsa for, after getting
back in the team he’s repaid his trust in me and kept me in the team so far.
“It seemed like he had a plan for me in the summer in terms
of minutes and made me feel wanted still and that I was still a part of his
plans and I like to think that is the case now.
“I’ve put a good run of games together and long may it
continue.”
Forshaw also spoke about his aims with the club going
forwards.
He said: “There’s no stopping here, I’m really pleased to
sign a new contract and want to kick on again.
“I want to keep playing games in the Premier League and keep
helping the team as much as I can.
“We need to keep progressing as a club and I want to enjoy
my football as well as much as I can too.
“Without making excuses, this season we’ve had a lot of
injuries and it will be great to get a lot of the lads back and hit a good run
of form.
“We probably haven’t had a real run of wins yet this season,
so we will be looking forward to that.”
