Leeds have reportedly fallen foul to another late transfer
hijack with Max Aarons sensationally 'walking out of a medical' to join
Bournemouth. The Championship side had an agreement in place with Norwich and
the full-back to sign Aarons in a deal worth £12million.
Leeds had already secured the signing of Joe Rodon on loan
from Tottenham with Daniel Farke keen to bolster his defensive line further
with the signing of Aarons. Farke worked with Aarons during the manager's time
at Norwich and gave the full-back his senior debut.
With an agreement in place, Aarons headed to Elland Road to
complete his medical ahead of a move to Leeds. But transfer insider Pete
O'Rourke claims Aarons 'walked out of the medical' at Leeds to travel down
south to Bournemouth.
In a wild turn of events, Aarons is now expected to join
Bournemouth in the next 24 hours.
The move has reportedly left Leeds stunned as Farke had his
heart set on a reunion with Aarons. The Whites had already bolstered their
right-back position by signing Aarons' former team-mate Sam Byram on a free
transfer.
Ethan Ampadu has also joined Farke's defensive revolution at Leeds with the centre-back signing from Chelsea. But Leeds missing out on Aarons at the last minute will bring up bad memories for Leeds from years gone by.
Their most famous transfer saga came in January 2019 when it
looked as though they were going to secure the signing of Dan James from
Swansea.
James had travelled up to Leeds to complete his medical and
had even conducted interviews with in-house media as well as taking photos with
his new top.
But Leeds were left stunned when Swansea chairman Huw
Jenkins reneged on the agreement at the 11th hour.
The decision left Leeds and James enraged as both parties
thought everything had been signed.
