Daniel Farke issues verdict on Leeds' Cody Drameh after difficult afternoon vs Ipswich - Leeds United News 26/8/23

Daniel Farke has taken the blame for Cody Drameh’s difficult
afternoon for Leeds United against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Farke was speaking in his post-match press conference after
Leeds’ dramatic 4-3 win over Ipswich Town, in which the Whites‘ defence were
caused major problems.
The home side enjoyed the majority of the chances during the
game but were undone through the quality of Leeds’ front four, with Georginio
Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Luis Sinisterra all on the score sheet.
Drameh was making his first league appearance of the season
against Ipswich after replacing Sam Byram at left-back following his injury.
The 21-year-old struggled massively at left-back, though,
with Ipswich getting in behind regularly and his short back pass leading to
their second goal of the afternoon.
Farke absorbs blame for Drameh display
As a result of his performance, Drameh was then substituted
at the break less than half an hour after coming on, with Farke absorbing the
blame for his performance.
He said: “Tricky because we were expecting Burns to play
down the right. Expected Drameh to be capable out there, plays at full back
already. Can handle the quality of Burns. Difficult for him to come into such
hectic game. I will not blame him. My decision.
“Cody is a great lad. Should not be blamed. It’s not easy
for him to come into first competitive game. Should blame my decision for
playing him down the left. Even Shackleton struggled with Burns.”
This could’ve been yet another nail in Drameh’s coffin at
Leeds, but ultimately it’s another game where he wasn’t handed a chance in his
proper position.
It feels like it is never going to work out for him at Leeds
and perhaps in these final days of the window, a move away could be what he
needs to fulfil the potential he showed at Cardiff City and Luton Town.
