DANIEL FARKE: NORMALLY A POINT FOR EACH TEAM WOULD’VE BEEN DESERVED - Leedsunited.com 12/8/23

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke spoke to the media following Saturday’s defeat at Birmingham City.

An injury time penalty from Lukas Jutkiewicz handed the Whites a first defeat of the season, with the Blues recording a 1-0 victory at St Andrew’s.

Farke gave his reflection on the match and was disappointed not to take something out of the game.

“When you judge the game, I think normally one point for each team would have been deserved,” said Farke.

“We had more possession, but they had obviously with their with their setup and offence, individual quality in their counter attacks.

“I think it was a game where both defensive roles were dominating the game and there were not many chances in the game, especially not out of open play.

“We had one or two really, really good situations in the first half, perhaps we lacked a little bit of quality in order to use the situation.

“I think for both sides, it didn't look today that any side would score today, but in football it's also about effectiveness and certainly we gave the referee a decision to make in injury time, out of a situation where it was not even a chance for them.

“It was a bit of naive behaviour of an offensive player in his own box and it's certainly what happens quite often and this this made the difference today.

“In this situation we were not smart enough, a bit naive to go into this duel and it gave the referee a chance to make a decision and I think this was the difference.”
