DANIEL FARKE: A REALLY GOOD SECOND HALF - Leedsunited.com 9/8/23
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke spoke exclusively to LUTV after Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town.
Leeds fought back from a goal down at Elland Road, to
progress to Round Two, with a 2-1 win.
Farke was pleased to reach the next stage of the competition
and the way his side turned the match around.
“The most important thing is to get through to the next
round and that is what we have done,” said Farke.
“In many ways it was similar to last Sunday, being down at
half time, despite having the better chances.
“However, perhaps it was slightly deserved, I wasn’t happy
with the movement of the ball, I thought it was too slow and our positioning
was not perfect and against the ball we could have been better.
“It was a really good second half though, we have amazing
statistics with 81% possession, 12-1 on shots, they had no corners, we had four
and didn’t allow them any chances.
“I would have preferred to score a third goal to make my
life a bit easier, but we are Leeds United and we never do it the easy way.
“Overall, in the first two competitive matches and the final
two friendlies against proper opponents against Nottingham Forest and Hearts,
to be four games unbeaten is good for the confidence, with three wins and one
draw, a late draw, which felt bit like a win with the last minute equaliser.
“We know the situation isn’t that easy and I predicted a bit
of a bumpy start, but we are on a good path, we want to keep going, take the
momentum into the next game and fight for the points again.”
