Cagliari sporting director Nicola Salerno may not end up at Leeds this summer – if Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has his way.
Salerno has been strongly linked with moving to take up a position at Leeds when Cagliari are sold to a group of American investors.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino, who is currently selling Cagliari, enjoys a good relationship with Salerno and the sporting director recently admitted it is possible he will switch to Elland Road.
However, according to Sky Italia, Salerno could end up staying in Sardinia.
Palermo president Zamparini is a firm fan of Salerno's deal-making and talent-spotting abilities and is eyeing him to assist the club's new sporting director Franco Ceravolo.
The Island side are returning to Serie A next season, having strolled to the Serie B title with a lead of 14 points over second-placed Empoli, and are determined to make a splash back in the top flight.
