Oh no we didn't! Newcastle refute Leeds' claim they've bid for Ross McCormack

Daily Star 5/6/14
NEWCASTLE have moved swiftly to rebuff claims from Leeds' owner Massimo Cellino that they have bid for Ross McCormack.
By Colin Harvey
The controversial Italian had insisted that he flat out denied an enquiry from the Toon for his Scottish striker but Sky Sports are reporting that the Magpies have rubished those claims.
Cellino said: "Newcastle made an offer for McCormack and I said no.
"He is happy to stay here and that made me proud."
McCormack, who almost left Leeds in January, signed a three-year deal last summer and maintains his happiness at Elland Road.
The Scot bagged 28 goals last season and is a vital member of their side so losing him would be a huge blow.
Sky reported: "Sky sources have described Cellino's statement as 'nonsense' and insist that no bid has been lodged with the Elland Road outfit." Newcastle are the latest Premier League club to be linked with the 27-year-old after Leeds rejected offers from Cardiff and West Ham at the turn of the year.
