LEE PELTIER has completed his move from Leeds United to West Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town - just hours after leaving the Whites by mutual consent.
The former Whites captain had a year left on his deal, but following talks between himself and the club, agreement was reached for him to quit Elland Road following a difficult final season at the club.
He has now made his return to Huddersfield, around three years after leaving them for Leicester in a £1m move.
Peltier, 27, joined United two summers ago and was appointed captain by former boss Neil Warnock.
But his fortunes dipped last term and he ended on joining Nottingham Forest on loan after falling out of favour under Brian McDermott.
Peltier, who made 27 appearances for Leeds last term, tweeted: “I have now officially left Leeds United football club - just want to thank all the people at the club who have helped and supported me.
“All the fans that have supported me over the two years, and all the boys at the club, it has been a pleasure working with them - top lads. I wish them all the best for the season, now time for me to me on to the next chapter off my career and look forward to the future.”
Huddersfield beat off interest from the likes of Nottingham Forest to sign Peltier with Bolton and Blackburn having also been rumoured to have been in the hunt.
Commenting on the signing of Peltier, 27, Huddersfield boss Mark Robins said: “I don’t need to tell Huddersfield Town fans about the qualities that Lee Peltier brings to the squad, but what I will say is that he’s returning to the Club a far better, more experienced, seasoned Championship player.
“Lee had the option to go to some other high profile Championship clubs this summer, but he knows this club and particularly its people and certainly was attracted by the stability and ambition at the club. He wants to be a part of it as we continue to progress forward.
“I met Lee and he is a strong, mentally tough, determined character who will add to our squad on the pitch and in the dressing room. Lee has a versatility about his game and can play in various roles, being equally comfortable in a back five or a back four.
“I’m delighted that he has become our latest summer recruit.”
