Boss explains Leeds United changes at Leicester and 'crafty' addition as trio drop to bench - YEP 20/10/22

Jesse Marsch has explained the Leeds United changes made for Thursday evening’s Premier League clash at Leicester City for which a key trio have dropped to bench.

Captain Liam Cooper, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison have all come out of the XI to sit amongst the substitutes whilst Pascal Struijk misses out through injury. Struijk is replaced by Junior Firpo whilst Diego Llorente, Patrick Bamford and 20-year-old winger Crysencio Summerville take the places of Cooper, Rodrigo and Harrison.

Asked about his team selection on Amazon Prime Video, Marsch said: “We've made a few changes and we’ve brought some fresh legs into the team. I think that's a big part of where we're at right now. I'm satisfied in a lot of areas with what we're doing other than the results and ultimately, that's my job, is to find a way to get those results. We know it won't be easy here. We know that Leicester also needs points, desperately, so it'll be that kind of match.”

Marsch added: "I think the big one is we've brought in Crysencio Summerville for his first start in the Premier League. He's done really well, in training and with our 21s. I think the cameos he's had from the bench have been quite good and I think he's ready for this moment.

"He's an incredibly dangerous crafty player. He's very fast. He's very active. And we feel like he can give us something a little bit different coming from the right and then you have Luis coming from the left. That means hopefully that we can help set Patrick Bamford up with more chances and help him find more goals.

"The guys in the back that have come in Diego and Junior I think have had a lot of moments and experiences in this league and I think they're ready to help perform right now. I like our team and obviously our bench is strong and healthy and ready to go as well. We'll be ready."
