Leeds board held talks on Sunday evening regarding Jesse Marsch after loss - Leeds News 25/10/22

The Mail+ claim that the Leeds United board met to discuss Jesse Marsch and the club’s poor start to the 2022-23 campaign on Sunday evening, after the loss to Fulham. However, it was not to consider replacing the American boss.

Instead, the meeting was held in order to find ways in which to help Marsch moving forward. The ex-Leipzig manager has watched his Leeds side lose four Premier League matches in a row, and pick up two points from a possible 24.

The pressure is mounting on Marsch. A woeful performance at Leicester last Thursday was followed by an improved effort in the 3-2 defeat at Fulham. But a lack of confidence, cutting edge and defensive organisation was on show.

The report states that the Leeds board – likely comprising of Andrea Radrizzani, Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear – met on Sunday evening. Fresh, from watching the 3-2 loss to Fulham. Mail+ say it was not to find Marsch’s replacement.

MailPlus’ Ian Ladyman claims they are trying to help Marsch: “On Sunday night at Elland Road the discussions at board room level were not about jettisoning Marsch but finding ways to support him.”

There is no doubt that Marsch is under pressure. While it is admirable that the board are continuing to show loyalty towards Marsch, the fans are becoming more and more unhappy. The atmosphere is edging towards toxic.

The issue for Leeds fans is that during the eight-game run without a win, Leeds have not faced the toughest of Premier League opposition. In their next three games before the World Cup, they face Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham.

How is Marsch going to get a win from those games? Liverpool at Anfield, despite their form, is going to be incredibly hard. Bournemouth is a winnable fixture, but Spurs in London is surely another loss. Marsch is up against it.
