Leeds United: United wait on Austin and Sharp as Pearce returns
Yorkshire Evening Post 7/11/14
Billy Sharp and Rudy Austin will be put through a full training session today with the aim of proving their fitness for tomorrow’s clash between Leeds United and Blackpool.
The pair are due to work with the rest of the first-team squad at Thorp Arch this morning after overcoming the injuries which have sidelined them for the past three weeks.
Head coach Neil Redfearn is yet to decide whether to risk either Sharp or Austin in tomorrow’s game at Elland Road but their return would strengthen his squad for an important Championship fixture.
“They’ve both done a lot more this week and I’m hoping they’re going to be involved today,” Redfearn said.
“If we can get a session out of them then we can maybe think about them for tomorrow.”
Defender Giuseppe Bellusci will be missing from United’s line-up after incurring a one-match ban in midweek and he dropped out of training yesterday with a tight hamstring.
Captain Jason Pearce is returning from a one-match suspension after sitting out the midweek 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic and should partner Liam Cooper in the centre of defence.
