Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn reveals what he made of his side’s performance against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday and wants the players to step up against Blackpool in the Championship today.
Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn believes that his players were too nice against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.
The Whites played out a 2-2 draw with the London club at Elland Road in the Championship.
West Yorkshire outfit Leeds took the lead twice through Alex Mowatt, but on both occasions Charlton equalised through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
Interestingly, all four goals came in the second half, and it seems that Redfearn’s half-time talk with his Leeds players had something to do with that.
‘I thought that Tuesday night was a much better performance and I thought that it was more of an up-and-at-them performance’, the Englishman wrote in today’s matchday programme notes.
‘I said to the lads at half-time that they were doing okay - but I don’t want them to do just okay. We looked a nice side - but I don’t want them to be a nice side. I thought that there was an improvement in the second half’.
Leeds will be looking to return to winning ways today when they take on Blackpool at Elland Road. The former Premier League outfit have not won a single competitive game since September 20.
Redfearn’s team are currently 17th in the Championship table with 17 points from 16 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
