Sheffield United title prediction unlikely to sit well with Leeds United boss Daniel Farke — Leeds Live 23/2/25
The winner of Monday's night's clash will win the title says Troy Deeney
Sheffield United are preparing to host Leeds United in a top
two Championship battle that is sure to play a key role in the fight for
promotion to the Premier League. Victory for Daniel Farke's Leeds side will not
just take them five points ahead of the Blades in second place, but will once
again open up a seven point advantage on third-placed Burnley to put the Whites
firmly on course for a Premier League return.
Chis Wilder will hope his home team can claim a victory that
will put them top of the table with 12 games remaining. Whatever the result
there is still a lot of football to be played and 36 points up for grabs in the
run-in.
While that may be the case, former Premier League striker
Troy Deeney says whoever wins Monday night's televised showdown will be crowned
Championship winners.
"I don't think we are going to get a cat and mouse
(type of game)," said Deeney on Sky Sports when previewing the game.
"I think both teams are set up the way they are. I
actually think Chris Wilder will be a little bit more pragmatic in his
approach. But, remember, the two points missing are the deducted points. So,
they are actually level. They are actually playing really well and at the same
standard.
"I think this is basically whoever wins will go on to
win the league. That's my prediction. No pressure. Let's just have it
off."
The Blades will have to end Leeds' four-match winning streak
if they are to get anything from the game, but no team has won as many league
games as Sheffield United 22 victories this season. With so much to play for
after the game, saying either side are destined to win the title is a brave
statement and one which Farke is sure to disagree with, having said as much in
the pre-match build-up.
