Rangers ‘to sign Leeds striker Gelhardt’ with multi-million 49ers deal all but done — Ibrox News 21/2/25

Rangers takeover by the 49ers could lead to a deal for Leeds
United striker Joe Gelhardt finally being completed.
Leeds chairman Paarag Marathe is leading negotiations for
the enterprise arm of the NFL franchise to take a controlling stake in the
Ibrox outfit.
The deal that would give Rangers close ties to the Elland
Road club is said to be “all but done and dusted” and the Light Blues could
take advantage by signing a Whites star.
Philippe Clement’s side are interested in attacking
reinforcements and Joe Gelhardt has been touted as a potential incoming.
A report from Daily Mail on 19 December claimed that the
Gers were interested in a loan deal for the 22-year-old in the winter transfer
window before he moved to Hull City.
However, the Light Blues could reignite their pursuit of the
former Wigan star once the 49ers complete the deal but will likely face
competition from arch-rivals Celtic.
If the Gers could secure a permanent deal for the
Liverpool-born forward for a cut price due to their new relationship with
Daniel Farke’s side, it could be a masterstroke.
The emergence of Hamza Igamane has lessened the need for a
striker but with uncertainty surrounding the future of Cyriel Dessers,
competition is needed for the Moroccan.
Gelhardt has notched one strike in six Championship matches
since he signed for Hull on loan after featuring just two times in the division
for Leeds this season but could thrive in Scotland.
The Whites ace needs to play regular first-team football for
his development and to fulfil his potential and he would get that at Ibrox.
It could work out for both parties, as we have seen with the
likes of Igamane and Clinton Nsiala, who have thrived once given a run in the
side by Clement.
Whether the Belgian is still in the dugout if Gelhardt is
signed remains to be seen and the new ownership structure have a big decision
to make on his future before they start thinking about incoming to the playing
squad.
