Leeds United news as fears of 'decline' grow over £1.7m stadium cost – Leeds Live 14/10/23

This week's release of fresh documents on Companies House saw confirmation that Andrea Radrizzani's time in the Leeds United boardroom was up, but it also revealed an uncomfortable truth around the club's stadium.

The Whites are currently paying £1.7m per year to rent Elland Road in a lease that is due to expire in 2032. That hasn't left everyone comfortable.

“It is a bit weird,” former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie told Football Insider. “I really do not understand that part of the game. It is like renting a house you can’t do anything to it.

“If you are going to buy a football club buy it all. They could go further into decline if they do not get it sorted. Leeds are a huge club and their fans deserve better – if somebody wants to buy them and take them forward, I would hope they would be willing to get it sorted.“
