Paraag Marathe has called several senior members of the
Leeds United squad to assure them that 49ers Enterprises have big plans for the
club following their takeover.
That is according to a report from the Daily Mail, which
suggests that the Whites’ vice-chairman has reached out to some of the players
following relegation.
Of course, there is a huge question mark over the Leeds side
which will start next season. Little has changed amongst the squad since the
final day of this past campaign. And obviously, we remain without a manager.
Many of the fans will be braced for a mass exodus. However,
it seems that the Leeds hierarchy are optimistic about the club’s future.
The Daily Mail reports that Marathe has spoken with several
senior Leeds players to assure them that the incoming owners have big plans for
the club.
Obviously, it is one thing to say that Leeds have big plans,
and another to execute them. This is largely going to be a tricky summer, with
plenty of changes amongst the ranks.
But Marathe’s claims may have an impact on a handful of
players considering their futures. Ultimately, Leeds is a massive club in the
second tier. We should be targeting promotion at the first attempt.
There are sides in the Premier League who have also shown
how to kick on and battle amongst the financial powerhouses. So there is reason
to be optimistic if Leeds get things right over the coming months.
But that could be a big if. The dust is still settling after
relegation. And it would be foolish to think that all of the players will be
convinced to stick around.
Hopefully by the time the opening day of the new season
arrives, it will be much easier to see what direction we can expect to go in
under 49ers Enterprises.
