Leeds United are intending to make an ‘impression’ on the
transfer market this summer.
That is according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, who
wrote in a question and answer session that Leeds are keen to invest in the
squad to build a side ready for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Leeds are yet to make any moves in this summer’s window as
they continue their search for a new manager, a process which they hope to have
wrapped up before the end of the weekend.
Until then, Leeds will be unable to push the button on any
of their targets as ultimately, the manager will need to give their final
say-so on who comes into his squad.
Daniel Farke, Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira remain the
three leading contenders for the role after face-to-face interviews took place
in London this week.
Once an appointment is finally made, Leeds can get to work
on bringing new players through the door and Cross has detailed how San
Francisco 49ers Enterprises are looking to show intent in their first full
window as majority shareholders.
He said: “As I understand it, the club does want to make an
impression on the transfer window. It wants to spend money and assemble a squad
which is capable of immediately challenging for promotion.”
Links to new players have at this stage, been few and far
between with Gustavo Hamer, Ryan Manning and Viktor Johansson among those
tenuously mentioned as targets.
That said, it is promising to hear Leeds will look to spend
money to rebuild the squad as ultimately, it is one that requires a lot of
surgery.
The appointment of a new manager really does feel like the
start of a domino effect at Leeds this summer and hopefully new signings won’t
be too far away.
