Elland Road ownership claim emerges as Andrea Radrizzani strikes agreement with San Francisco 49ers - MOT Leeds News 9/6/23

Full ownership of Elland Road will pass on from Andrea Radrizzani to the San Francisco 49ers as Leeds United ownership is set to change hands.

According to the Athletic journalist Phil Hay on 9 June, an agreement was reached on Thursday evening, 8 June with an announcement now imminent.

The Italian is set to sever all ties with Leeds and walk away from the club for good.

After news emerged that Radrizzani had considered offering Elland Road as a security to sanction a loan to buy Sampdoria, many fans were enraged.

The stadium is something that’s untouchable and it cannot be used to borrow money for things not even related to the club.

Radrizzani thought he was being smart as he owned the stadium but it can never belong to one person as it’s part of the community and the fabric of the football club.

Hopefully, new rules come in that prevent this from ever happening again as that’s something that cannot be put on the table.

Leeds and Elland Road go hand in hand and it now remains to be seen what this new era brings with it as it’s going to be a new start.

The 49ers would’ve liked it to be in the Premier League but they will now adapt to life in the Championship and try bringing the club back to the promised land.
