The front-runner for the Leeds United manager’s position
looks to be Patrick Vieira, with final interviews set to take place this week.
The Whites now know how their Championship season will get
underway with a home test against Cardiff City, but they won’t know yet who is
going to be in the home dugout.
Fans are still eagerly waiting for updates on who might
become the club’s new manager as pre-season draws nearer.
The Guardian are now reporting that former Crystal Palace
manager Patrick Vieira has edged clear in the running for the manager’s
position.
Alongside Vieira in the final shortlist are two other
out-of-work managers in Daniel Farke and Scott Parker, both of those having
clinched promotion twice each from the Championship.
“Although Daniel Farke and Scott Parker remain in
contention, Vieira appears in pole position after indicating an enthusiasm for
succeeding Sam Allardyce at Elland Road. The former Arsenal and France
midfielder was dismissed by Crystal Palace in March but had previously
impressed at Selhurst Park and retains admirers among the Leeds hierarchy.”
The report also outlines that final interviews are to take
place this week to see who they will finally decide on as the new boss.
With only four days (including today) remaining in the week,
it looks as though we are moving towards seeing confirmation, with Vieira seemingly
becoming the most likely.
It has to be between Farke and Vieira, and if it’s between
those two, then Farke needs to be the choice we go for.
What is really frustrating about this is that we’ve been
targeting three managers that are out of work and we’ve still not found a
conclusion.
Leicester and Southampton have both got managers over the
line having taken them from other clubs.
We have to get moving if we want to stand a chance of being
promoted.
