Leeds United's Daniel Farke promises to be 'first on the table' as promotion is secured — Yorkshire Post 21/4/25

Manager Daniel Farke promised to be the "first on the table" after Leeds United clinched promotion back to the Premier League following two years away.

The Whites romped to a 6-0 win over Stoke City, then saw Sheffield United fail to win at Burnley in the 5.30pm kick-off, a result which guaranteed promotion for his side.

Farke, whose side were beaten in the Championship play-off final at the end of his first season at Elland Road, promised to enjoy the celebrations to the full, but added his players will have stopped partying in plenty of time for their next game, at home to Bristol City seven days later, as they look to close out the title.

"I normally celebrate with cake and coffee on the sofa because I'm at an age where I'm pretty tired after a game," said Farke, his eyes barely straying from the media room television showing the first half from Turf Moor as he spoke to the media.

"When I was younger, as a player I was able to celebrate a proper win.

"Now I'm just happy when I don't have to speak at all and I can watch a little golf on the sofa.

"If there is really something to celebrate, believe me I will be a fire beast and it won't be cheesecake and coffee, there will be some other drinks.

"Normally I like to speak about the next training session and be disicplined but believe me, I will be the first on the table, you can be sure."

Leeds blew Stoke away in a first half which saw Joel Piroe score four goals and his team five. Willy Gnonto joined Junior Firpo on the scoresheet in a second half in which 16-year-old Harry Gray, the latest from the club's famous family dynasty, make his debut as an 85th-minute substitute.

Leeds now have two games to secure the title. They are ahead of Burnley on goal difference.

Sheffield United and Burnley both play before Leeds' penultimate game.

"The Blades are at Stoke City on Friday, the Clarets at Queens Park Rangers at 12.30pm on Saturday,

Leeds host Bristol City on Monday.

Leeds United board break silence after transfer window with statement on upcoming Elland Road development — YEP 2/9/24

By Joe Donnohue Leeds United have confirmed supporters' commemorative stones at Elland Road's Centenary Square will be replaced free of charge in a bid to improve their longevity. Beginning next month, Leeds supporters' personalised stones will be replaced with exact replicas, courtesy of a new company, to ensure of a 'much better quality' installation. The work is expected to take around two months to complete. Leeds United transfer state of play as Whites knock back low bid and assert wing pair stance — YEP 3/7/24

By Graham Smyth Leeds United are not actively looking to cash in on Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto and believe any further outgoing transfer business will be done on their terms. The Whites, who sold Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday for £40m, expect that there will be continued interest in wing pair Summerville and Gnonto as the summer transfer window progresses. Summerville has been a target for Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion but their interest has not yet materialised into a bid. The Albion did, however, send a £30m proposal for Georginio Rutter, which Elland Road chiefs rejected. Rutter is not expected to try and force an exit this summer and appears settled at Leeds after a far more positive second season in English football.
