Exclusive: Leeds hatch summer signing plan for Premier League return — Football Insider 21/4/25
Leeds United are targeting Premier League experience as they
begin planning for their return to the top flight, sources have told Football
Insider.
The Whites guaranteed promotion after beating Stoke City 6-0
at home on Monday (21 April) – while Sheffield United lost away at Burnley.
Leeds are desperate to get a foothold in the Premier League
and avoid the fate of Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich Town – instant
demotion back to the Championship.
Football Insider revealed on 11 April that the Yorkshire
giants only plan on strengthening “a few key positions” – with six players seen
as Premier League-ready.
As a result, it is believed Daniel Farke and his transfer
team will prioritise moves for players with top flight experience.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 April) that
ex-Whites midfielder Kalvin Phillips is interested in a return to Elland Road.
He has amassed seasons of Premier League experience during
his time with Leeds, Man City, West Ham and Ipswich.
Meanwhile, Football Insider also revealed (13 April) that
Farke sees Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as a “great fit” for his Leeds
squad.
The Saints’ relegation has activated a £25million release
clause in Ramsdale’s current contract at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 11 April that the
definitive position Leeds are looking to strengthen in this summer is at
centre-forward.
A new goalkeeper is also close to the top of the list after
Illan Meslier‘s costly errors between the sticks this season.
Leeds’ three-year spell in the Premier League from 2020–2023 saw them struggle to maintain a constant presence up front – with injury and form restricting Patrick Bamford from providing the goals they needed.
