Darren Williams controversy takes a turn as PGMOL break silence after Leeds United incident — Leeds United News 12/4/25

Leeds United has yet to receive any answers to the
controversy surrounding their 1-0 win at Middlesbrough.
Although Daniel Farke’s side got back to winning ways,
linesman Darren Williams took the spotlight.
Leeds will be thrilled they got back to winning ways, but Ao
Tanaka and Patrick Bamford’s goals being disallowed showed officials are way
off it.
There was fury over Tanaka’s offside, and Bamford’s wasn’t
any better, as the Whites would’ve no doubt felt hard done by if they had
dropped points.
In good news, the EFL have demoted Williams, but insight has
now been given into a secret phone call with the PGMOL.
PGMOL break silence on Leeds United controversy
It’s now been a bit of time since Tuesday night’s affair in
what will be a memorable game in more ways than one for Leeds.
The encounter clearly has found in place in the Whites boss’
head as Farke was fuming after the wrong decisions.
His fury was there for all to see, and you can’t blame him
for his response, but now the Leeds manager has revealed some inside talks with
the PGMOL.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the
Whites’ fixture with Preston, Farke has given some interesting inside
conversations about the PGMOL’s response.
“I won’t talk about it in public because that would be a
lack of class,” Farke said.
“I hope for good performances from my players, and he hopes
for good performance for [his staff.]”
Leeds controversy highlighted clear reason why promotion is
vital
The state of officiating in this country is clear, and
Williams’ choice to flag both as offside was extremely bizarre.
Both were shockers, but if Tanaka’s goal had stood it
would’ve taken needless pressure off the Whites.
With these errors occurring, it gives more reason why Leeds
need promotion, as VAR comes into the picture, which the Championship lacks.
