Rasmus Kristensen breaks silence after leaving Leeds United for Eintracht Frankfurt — Leeds United News 17/4/25

Leeds United confirmed the exit of Rasmus Kristensen this week, with Eintracht Frankfurt agreeing to turn his loan deal into a permanent deal after an excellent season in Germany.

Almost three years after reuniting with Jesse Marsch at Elland Road after completing a £10m move from RedBull Salzburg, Kristensen has finally been removed from the Leeds books after two years out on loan.

A dismal first season at Elland Road saw Kristensen go from Leeds’ pick to replace Luke Ayling in the long run, only to be displaced by Ayling and Kristensen lose his spot in the Denmark National Team, in 2023.

One of eight players to use Victor Orta’s heavily-criticised loan release clause, he initially joined Roma but struggled to get regular game time. His loan remained active for a second season, like Jack Harrison.

It saw Kristensen swap Rome for Frankfurt, and the Dane has not looked back. Clocking up six goals and assists in 38 Frankfurt outings, he has helped the German side sit third in the Bundesliga this season.

Not only that, but Frankfurt have a real chance of reaching the Europa League semi-finals. Kristensen has now turned his loan into a permanent deal, The Athletic reporting Leeds will receive an initial £5.1m fee.

That could rise to £7.7m in add-ons. Speaking to Frankfurt’s website, Kristensen claimed he has had to work hard to engineer a permanent deal and remove himself from the books at Elland Road this season.

“I felt very comfortable in Frankfurt from the start, my family has also settled in very well here. I fought hard to be able to play for Eintracht longer, and I want to repay the trust placed in me,” Kristensen said.

Five of Victor Orta’s eight-man loan army have now been sold

A total of five players of the eight that used Orta’s loan clause in the summer of 2023 have now been removed from the Leeds books. Kristensen is the latest, Leeds posting an abrupt 60-word statement.

Kristensen’s Frankfurt teammate Robin Koch is another, while Luis Sinisterra is at Bournemouth in the Premier League. Diego Llorente and Marc Roca are both at Real Betis, after Llorente went to AS Roma.

The three that remain are Jack Harrison, currently enduring a difficult second season with Everton while Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober are back at Leeds – though Wober is expected to leave Leeds soon.
