Family member of Leeds United star has let it slip that he’s suffered a broken bone — Leeds United News 6/2/25

The consistency over the last couple of months from Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side has been nothing short of remarkable as The Whites chalked off another win towards promotion on Wednesday night.

Leeds have now played 33 matches in all competitions this season, winning 20 of them. Incredibly, nine of those 20 victories have been via the scoreline of 2-0 – and 17 of the 20 have been alongside a clean sheet.

Daniel Farke’s men now sit top of the Championship table with a five-point gap between themselves and second-placed Burnley. Sheffield United are level on points with Burnley, but boasting a game in hand.

The key to the consistency has been a regular core in this Leeds side. Joe Rodon has started all 31 league games for Leeds and has only been substituted once, in the dying moments of the 1-0 loss to Burnley.

Joe Rodon has been playing with a broken hand for a while

Rodon is a warrior. Sporting a gash on his head after a recent outing for Turkey, Rodon said that playing in the Championship makes you tough. Often, the player is seen throwing his body on the line for Leeds.

But interestingly, Rodon has been playing with a broken hand. That is according to LUTV commentator Bryn Law, who said early in the second half last night that a family member told him of Rodon’s injury.

“Broken hand he has, I was reliably informed by a member of the Rodon family at half-time. He has had the issue for quite a while, hence the fact that bandage has been there for quite a while,” Law claimed.

Promotion is only secured if Joe Rodon can remain fit for Leeds

It is unclear when Rodon suffered the injury, but the Wales star has been sporting bandaging around his hand for a while now. What is crucial and if Leeds are to obtain promotion, Rodon has to keep playing.

With Pascal Struijk in and out of injuries and Max Wober’s knees unable to cope with the pressure, Rodon is the only reliably fit centre-back Leeds have. Ethan Ampadu is dropping in to defence at the moment.

But, even Farke admits that Ampadu is not a long-term solution in defence. Leeds failed to bring in any new signings in January and that means, cover remains light. Rodon must remain fit if Leeds are to go up.
