The huge initial fee Leeds are set to receive for Crysencio Summerville’s move to West Ham — Leeds United News 31/7/24

West Ham United are closing in on a deal to sign Crysencio
Summerville from Leeds United, and Ben Jacobs has shared how much Leeds will
receive for the Dutchman.
The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with the Elland
Road exit door all summer and was targeted as the one big sale Leeds needed to
make before the Profit & Sustainability Rules deadline this month.
But instead, Leeds sold Archie Gray for £40m to Tottenham.
Leeds have since sold five more players in the form of Diego Llorente, Marc
Roca, Kris Klaesson and Charlie Cresswell – raking in around £60m in total.
But more exits were always likely and Fabrizio Romano
reported on Wednesday afternoon that West Ham had agreed personal terms with
Summerville, and talks for a fee were ongoing with the Yorkshire side.
Now, the story has moved on with multiple sources claiming a
deal is done between Leeds and Angus Kinnear’s old club. The Dutchman is
expected to sign a five-year at the London Stadium, until June 2029.
That is according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, who has
reported on his Instagram page that Leeds will receive a fee of £25m for the
Championship’s Player of the Season and then more cash in add-ons.
He said: “Crysencio Summerville set to join West Ham after a
package agreed with Leeds. Fixed fee is around £25m with add-ons on top.
Summerville will sign to a five-year contract subject to a medical.”
Archie Gray left Leeds earlier this summer for a fee of
£40m, becoming only the third player to be sold by Leeds for a fee of £40m or
more. In 2022, Leeds sold Kalvin Phillips (£45m) and Raphinha (£55m).
Rio Ferdinand’s exit is in fourth, before Summerville slots
in fifth place. Behind him include the likes of Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra
and Chris Wood, but it is deemed that West Ham are getting a bargain.
At times this summer, Summerville has been touted at a fee
similar to that of Gray’s. A report even this week said Leeds wanted £40m and
that West Ham were only offering £20m for Summerville this summer.
