Leeds move for Dexter Blackstock
Square Ball 21/10/13
Having been linked with the Nottingham Forest striker last January, Leeds United seem to be on the cusp of bringing Dexter Blackstock in on loan.
McDermott’s search for a new striker has clearly not been abated with yesterday’s thrashing of Birmingham City. The 4-0 victory was capped with a brace from Matt Smith. McDermott’s bench was not particularly strong, however, and a loan move for Blackstock would likely improve the options available to the Leeds manager significantly.
Leon Wobschall from the Yorkshire Post had the following to say:
Leeds have struggled for goals so far this season, and McDermott highlighted the need for a new striker several weeks ago. The international break was a frustrating one for the Leeds manager, with as many as six approaches for various loan signings being rejected by their parent clubs. McDermott will have been buoyed, however, by the improved display from his charges, who benefitted from a switch in formation.
