McDermott - The win was all that mattered
Leeds United boss Brian McDermott was a relieved man after seeing his side halt a run of three
straight defeats in the championship.
Leeds halted the run with a 2-1 win over ten-men Bournemouth at Elland Road and McDermott says the only thing that mattered was the three points.
Speaking on LUTV, McDermott said, "The only thing that mattered was to get the win because we haven`t won for a while.
"I think if we would have scored the penalty, I think we would have won the game comfortably but I was only concerned about getting the three points tonight.
"I was very happy to see us get over the line because we haven`t won for a while and we desperately needed to win."
Leeds didn`t do things easily despite playing ten men for almost an hour.
Bournemouth had goalkeeper Ryan Allsopp sent off just past the half hour when he brought down Noel Hunt inside the penalty area.
Ross McCormack then saw his penalty saved by replacement goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan but McCormack made up for the miss early in the second half when he opened the scoring.
Leeds still couldn`t relax against a stubborn Bournemouth and the visitors equalised with just seventeen minutes remaining through Lewis Grabban.
Substitute Dominic Poleon scored his second goal of the season for Leeds with just ten minutes remaining to secure the three points for Leeds and a first win in four games.
