'Proud' Daniel Farke's first words since Leeds United secured Premier League survival — YEP 11/5/26

By Kyle Newbould

The Leeds United boss spoke publicly for the first time since survival was secured.

Daniel Farke only briefly enjoyed Leeds United being mathematically safe from relegation before quickly returning focus onto Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds’ Premier League status for the 2026/27 campaign was confirmed on Sunday afternoon following West Ham’s dramatic 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, with Callum Wilson's added-time leveller chalked off by VAR. The Hammers are now seven points shy of their long-time relegation rivals with just two games left to play.

Farke’s side have a chance to extend their lead on 18th at Tottenham this evening and despite being safe, no one at Leeds will be planning their summer holidays yet. The Whites could still climb into the top-half with a strong finish and will be keen to extend their six-game unbeaten run.

“Of course I’m proud,” Farke told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off. “A fantastic achievement for us but to be honest, I enjoyed a little bit the feeling yesterday evening once it was mathematically confirmed.

“I will enjoy it after the game but right now, I’m not in the mood to reflect. I’ve got an important game for us in a few minutes and for that, I’m already motivated and concentrated.

“A few important players are missing today, the lads need all my attention and help so I can’t waste one per cent of energy to be over emotional or be in a relaxed mode. We want to be successful tonight and for that, I’m already focused.”
