Leeds United have opened 'ambitious and honest' talks on the future after completing stage one project — YEP 22/5/26

Daniel Farke with an update on talks with the Leeds United
board about the club’s future.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke says that he and the board
are in talks over their immediate and mid-term future plans.
The German's press conference to preview last Sunday's win
over Brighton included a lengthy discussion on the need to sit down and find
alignment on how the club plans to proceed having secured safety.
Farke spoke of achieving all the goals that were set when he
signed his four-year contract in 2023 and how that project was ending so a new
one had to be laid out. He also made it clear that there needed to be ambition
and a desire to develop, and he would only lead a project if he remained in
charge of the sporting decisions.
This week, ahead of the Premier League finale at West Ham
United, Farke said that there are talks going on behind the scenes. And he
senses ambition.
"I'm not addicted too much to a three-year
vision," he said.
"We signed a contract for four years because we felt it
would last four years. We're perhaps one year quicker than expected. It's
difficult to say that in three years we'll have achieved all our goals, but
it's important to plan for the mid and long-term. Perhaps three, perhaps five.
It's a good period to speak about. It's what we're doing right now."
Farke added that the club will only speak about any plans or
agreements reached once everything is settled and they have started to put
plans into action
"I was very grateful that I was trusted with this
responsible role as manager at this huge club with a huge fanbase," he
said.
"We've spoken very open, very honest and in a trustful
atmosphere. We speak very open right now, very ambitious and with belief in
each other. Once we have agreed something important for the future we'll come
out and speak about it. It's important to have the right plan in place and back
our theoretical ideas with some actions. Right now is the moment for work and
conversations."
