Record Bid Rejected! – Leeds United Transfer In Shock Outcome - The Real EFL 31/8/23
Leeds United have rejected a club record bid from Burnley of £20,000,000 for Crysencio Summerville, according to Fabrizio Romano.
With the transfer deadline fast approaching Leeds United
have been busy in the transfer window adding several players including; Glen
Kamara. However, they have also been forced to fend off interest from clubs
attempting to poach their top talent away from Elland Road following the club’s
relegation to the Championship.
The 21-year-old is highly thought of by The Whites, and is
seen as a key part of the club’s ambitions to return to the Premier League. The
Dutch winger’s impressive performances have attracted the interest of Vincent
Kompany’s Burnley who submitted a £20,000,000 bid, a record for the club that
was rejected immediately without negotiation meaning the Premier League side
will have to turn their attention elsewhere as the window comes to a close.
The winger joined Leeds for an undisclosed fee in 2020 from
Dutch side Feyenoord, signing a three year contract taking his place in the
academy. He since progressed to the first team making his debut in 2021 as a
late substitute in the Premier League against Newcastle United. In October of
last season he scored his first Premier League goal against Fulham and would
gain plaudits for scoring the winner against Liverpool a few days later. He has
made 35 league appearances scoring on 5 occasions, whilst also being capped by
his national team up to U21 level.
The player is clearly a key part of what Daniel Farke wants
to do and to let him leave so late in the window, when the club are already
desperate to add more players to the team would be a mistake that could
ultimately come back to haunt them. The outright rejection with no offer to
negotiate sends a clear message to Burnley and any other side who may come
knocking. The fact Burnley submitted a club record bid only to see it rejected
is really shocking for Vincent Kompany’s side.
