Leeds United transfer rumours as details of failed Whites deadline day push emerge - Leeds Live 3/9/23

Deadline day Illias Chair report emerges

Leeds United reportedly made a late deadline day push to try and sign Queens Park Rangers playmaker Illias Chair. A wild end to the window eventually saw Leeds bring in Jaidon Anthony from Bournemouth to replace Cherries-bound Luis Sinisterra, but according to Darren Witcoop of the Daly Mirror, Leeds had Chair in their sights late in the window.

He claims Leeds were willing to meet QPR's £6million valuation, but were undone by the timing of the deal, as it did not give the Hoops enough time to find a replacement, so they would pull the plug on a deal.

Late Gnonto suitor emerged on deadline day

Wilfried Gnonto was one of the big sagas of Leeds United's summer window, but the unsettled 19-year-old remained a Whites player after the window closed last night.

This came after the Italy international withdrew himself from the Leeds squad for three games last month, before Daniel Farke and the Elland Road hierarchy were able to clear the air and reinstate him.

Everton had been most closely linked with a move for Gnonto, but according to German outlet Bild, a new suitor emerged late on deadline day. They report that Bundesliga outlet Freiburg considered him a 'dream player' only to baulk at the fee required as they did not want to set a precedent that other teams would look to exploit in future dealing with them.
