RENE MARIC: THE PERFORMANCE OF THE YOUNG GUYS WAS VERY GOOD - Leedsunited.com 9/11/22

Leeds United went out of the Carabao Cup away at fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, following a late goal from the hosts.

The Whites made 10 changes from the weekend win over AFC Bournemouth, with a number of first team debuts seen on the night.

Rene Maric gave his thoughts to the media, after the match.

He said: “We're obviously disappointed because I thought that we could have won the game.

“We had a really good start to the game and we had chances all over. But, we didn't take it so we were also disappointed.

“It's a disappointment because we thought that the group that we put on the pitch played a very good game.”

United’s assistant head coach was asked about the team selection and the number of young players who were given their opportunity in the team, for this cup clash.

“We know that we have a really good squad and we know that we have really talented players who need these steps to develop,” Maric stated.

“We knew that we could trust them and have a fighting chance here. We don't have any regrets because we trust the squad.

“I think that they showed their potential. Obviously there are details that we are working on with them.

“These games are important to show these challenges to them and to us how they cope with it, but we were happy with all of them.

"I thought that the performance of the young guys was very good."
