49ers secure funds to complete Leeds United takeover amid US banking sources reveal - MOT Leeds News 10/11/22
The 49ers Enterprises have secured the funds to complete a full takeover of Leeds United by January 2024, according to The Times (9 November).
The group, who own a 44 percent stake in Leeds and are
connected to the NFL franchise team San Francisco 49ers have the option to buy
out owner Andrea Radrizzani in January 2024.
Now according to sources from US banking, there have been
moves in recent weeks to secure investment for a full takeover and that is now
in place.
It is possible that they could make a move before January
2024 to complete a full takeover, but it’s said that it is more likely to take
place at the end of the current season, with the final sale price dependant on
whether they remain in the Premier League or not.
It’s not believed that this is a hostile takeover, with
Radrizzani and the 49ers having a strong working relationship.
Leeds United fans have been asking for months where the
49ers disappeared to in recent months, but it seems they’ve been busy setting
this up.
Radrizzani has taken the club to a fantastic place, but it’s
arguable that he couldn’t take us any further and with the 49ers coming in to
the club there is a real chance that we will be able to invest more and
establish ourselves in this division.
It’s going to be a long process, so waiting until the end of
the season makes sense, but we must be sure that it won’t effect our summer
transfer window at the same time as that could put us at a disadvantage.
Radrizzani is now likely to be gone at some point in 2023
and we’re buzzing for the new chapter that is about to begin at Elland Road for
Leeds United.
The future is bright and finally there is at least an
outline of what that future looks like.
