Leeds United news as Massimo Cellino resigns from Brescia, FA's Euro 2028 Elland Road decision - Leeds Live 16/11/22

A round-up of the latest Leeds United headlines.

Ex-Leeds owner Massimo Cellino resigns from Brescia

Leeds United's controversial former owner Massimo Cellino has announced his resignation as chairman of Brescia on the club's website.

Cellino is facing a judicial investigation, with Italian outlet II Giorno stating the violations are of a 'criminal-tax nature'. £48 million worth of assets could be seized, although the report adds that the 'investigations do not concern the management of the Brescia Calcio team'.

He is yet to sell the club, and revealed in his statement: "I am convinced that with my resignation the company will be in a position to identify, in agreement with judicial bodies, a person who will be able to bring Brescia the results the passion of fans deserve."

Supporters had also been protesting his hire and fire policy, with Brescia having seen no fewer than 18 managerial spells during his reign.

Former Leeds assistant Pep Clotet is currently serving his second stint in the managerial hotseat with Brescia sitting seventh in Serie B.

Brescia endured a rollercoaster ride under Cellino - earning promotion to Serie A in 2019, before immediately suffering relegation back to the second tier.

During his chaotic three-year spell at Elland Road, the Italian went through six managers and was banned as an owner three times by the authorities, before Andrea Radrizzani completed his Elland Road takeover in May 2017.

FA make Elland Road decision as plans submitted for Euro 2028 bid to be held in UK and Ireland

The UK and Ireland have formally submitted a dossier as part of their bid to host UEFA Euro 2028, with 14 stadiums being shortlisted to host games. The bid sees the governing bodies of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland join forces to attempt to win the right to host the major tournament.

The paperwork lists the stadiums which could be used if the bid is successful and despite nine English venues being included, Leeds United’s Elland Road is not one of them.

The grounds named include Newcastle United’s St James’ Park, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, Old Trafford and the yet to be built Everton Stadium, which is expected to be in opened in 2024.

Summerville's honest Leeds United reflection and message for teammates ahead of World Cup

Crysencio Summerville admits Leeds United's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur was a hard pill to swallow. The Dutch youth international continued his impressive run in front of goal, opening the scoring for Jesse Marsch's side after just ten minutes.

The 21-year-old has now scored in his last four outings for the Whites, making his name one of the first on the teamsheet. The form of the youngster has coincided with Leeds United's recent upturn in form and at one point, it looked as though that winning run would continue against Antonio Conte's side.

Having taken the lead three times, Rodrigo Bentancur's brace in the final ten minutes of the game would ensure Spurs of all three points. Leaving the Whites in 15th place, two points above the relegation zone.
