Leeds United remain active within Andrea Radrizzani's interest in Man City-like network - Leeds Live 9/3/22
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has talked of multi-club ownership in the past and that was one of the topics Whites board member Massimo Marinelli discussed recently
Multi-club ownership with Leeds United at the heart of a
network of football clubs remains firmly on the agenda for Andrea Radrizzani.
More than once, the Elland Road supremo has discussed
ambitions to build a network of clubs under one umbrella organisation because
of the benefits he sees in that approach.
Massimo Marinelli, a Whites board member since May 2021 and
long-term Radrizzani associate, has reiterated that desire, citing Manchester
City’s network, City Football Group, as an example.
"As an investor, Andrea is on the record of saying we
would consider other clubs,” Marinelli told the Financial Times' Business of
Football Summit.
“Generally, because you are investing in more than just a
business, it is a decision you have to approach very carefully, but certainly
we think there is benefit and opportunity to multi-club ownership and there are
a few examples out there, (like) City Group.
“We think [it] is a good opportunity to synergise
capabilities, management capabilities, management know-how, commercial
expertise.
"Possibly, with the right sporting set up, it is an
opportunity to develop talent better.
“By any means, I think we will continue to be active in the
space and be aware of what is out there.”
Last year, Radrizzani was strongly linked with a takeover at
Serie A’s Salernitana, but terms could not be agreed and the Italian club has
since found new ownership.
