Graham Smyth claims that Jesse Marsch will be looking to
make changes to the backroom staff in the summer at Leeds United.
He does not see the money going into redeveloping Elland
Road just yet and instead, it would be on making the squad good enough to avoid
relegation, should they stay up.
The Elland Road development will take place once the
ownership picture gets clearer.
He wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post, “I don’t think
Elland Road redevelopment will take place this summer. I think the immediate
concern is staying in the Premier League, then investing in the squad this
summer and creating a more permanent set-up under Jesse Marsch.
“There will be more changes in the staff. I suspect we won’t
see serious Elland Road redevelopment of the kind that has been talked about by
Angus Kinnear, until the ownership picture becomes clearer.”
The priority right now is to keep all the money on the pitch
and get results.
Once the Whites have established themselves as a Premier League
mainstay, then they can think of expansion.
Should the new owners come in and make restructuring Elland
Road their main plan, then, by all means, they should.
However, what’s more important is to reinvest the money in
the playing squad.
This season, Marcelo Bielsa was not backed enough in the
market and that led to him losing his job.
The same mistakes cannot continue to happen under Jesse
Marsch.
