The agent of Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has confirmed that he is set for a loan away from the club this summer.
Illan Meslier’s emergence as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe is fantastic for Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa.
The only person who perhaps hasn’t benefited from the Frenchman’s rise to prominence is Kiko Casilla, who lost his starting berth to him in early 2020.
There’s not been any complaints from Leeds fans, and he was effectively written off and cast out by them from the moment he was charged by the FA back in February last year.
The Spaniard’s future has been in major doubt because of his inconsistency and this charge, and now he looks set to leave the club this summer, albeit temporarily.
LUFCFanZone revealed on Twitter that Casilla’s agent has confirmed a loan move could be imminent.
A big update on the player’s future, fans reacted quite positively to the news, while some are still grateful for his contribution…
It’s a move that’s best for all parties, because he’s clearly not wanted at the club and that’s not good for him.
I lost faith in him after the series of mistakes at the start of 2020, but the racism charge is enough on its own for me to not want to support him.
I’m grateful for his contribution in our promotion-winning season, but he’s a player that shouldn’t really have a long-term place here, in my opinion.
Hopefully, he can get his career back on track as he approaches his twilight years.
