Brian McDermott delighted to complete his fourth signing…
United manager Brian McDermott is delighted to have agreed his fourth summer signing with the arrival of Scott Wootton from Manchester United.
The young defender has made the move across the pennines to join on a three-year deal.
Scott follows fellow summer recruits Matt Smith, Noel Hunt and Luke Murphy and the manager was delighted to welcome him to the club.
“I’m really pleased because we don’t have to talk about the fourth signing anymore, it has happened now,” said a delighted boss.
“I’m really pleased, he is a player we have known for a while. He’s only 21-years of age and has played in the Champions League for Manchester United.
“He is a really good lad and he fits in to what we are trying to do here. I’m absolutely delighted.
“He started off at Liverpool and then moved to Manchester United and we are just very pleased to get him.
“It has been a long and drawn out business but we got there in the end.”
Both the manager and player feel that the move to United has come at the right time and the young defender is now looking to progress in Yorkshire.
“He really wanted to come to Leeds United which is important to me that the players that we sign really want to come and he’ll be living in the area,” said McDermott.
“He is ready and he wants to really kick his career on now.”
Scott’s arrival adds competition to the defensive positions, something that the boss was egger to do.
“Tom Lees and Jason Pearce have been playing in all the games which is very difficult,” said the manager.
“They are young centre-halves that are learning the game and Scott is also learning. That will be a team within a team, those three and we know that Lee Peltier can play that position as well.
“It is good for us and we have a number of strikers so we have that competition up there as well.”
