Leeds United wait on third Middlesbrough offer for McCormack

Leeds United look set to receive a third offer from Middlesbrough for striker Ross McCormack with the Teesside club convinced that they can tempt United into a sale.
But Leeds plan to hold firm against further pressure having rejected two bids from Boro and another offer submitted by fellow Championship side Blackpool.
Blackpool appear to have admitted defeat in their pursuit of McCormack following an unsuccessful joint bid for the Scotland forward and winger Aidan White which amounted to a fee in excess of £1million.
Boro, however, are refusing to give up on McCormack, despite seeing Leeds turn down an improved offer of £1.3million earlier this week.
The club’s manager, Tony Mowbray, had previously attempted to secure McCormack with an initial valuation of £1million but sources in the north east indicate that Boro remain optimistic of forcing Leeds’ hand.
United are unlikely to buckle, though, with boss Brian McDermott adamant that the 26-year-old will not leave Elland Road before the end of the transfer window.
McDermott dismissed talk of McCormack’s exit as a “non-story” last week, saying: “I’ve spoken to Ross and we put it to bed between us.”
