A message from Leeds United boss Daniel Farke to supporters.
Daniel Farke has issued a message to Leeds United’s fans on
targets for the new Premier League season with a guarantee about his side.
Farke’s men will begin their second season back in the
country’s top flight with Saturday’s clash at Nottingham Forest, ahead of which
Farke has declared the initial aim is to get to 40 points and ensure top flight
survival for a second year.
Farke, is hoping that new goals can be set if and when that
objective is achieved and has absolutely no qualms with his team’s supporters
dreaming big fresh from a brilliant second half of last season and strong set
of results over the summer.
The Whites boss also said he can guarantee that his side
“can't wait” to represent their fans and the club’s famous shirt over the
course of the 2026-27 campaign.
Speaking at Thursday’s pre-Nottingham Forest press
conference, Farke was asked if he had a general message for the club’s
supporters ahead of the new season and what they can expect.
"They should dream big,” said the Whites boss.
"They should be excited, they should enjoy, they should
think about unrealistic targets because this club has suffered so long anyhow.
"So come on, enjoy the moment, enjoy that we had a pre
season where we had many, many good results, enjoy the new signings, the new
announcements anyhow.
"We try to fire them even more a bit up with some more
good news hopefully in the upcoming days.
"We have a great, great team, we have a great team
spirit and we have a group together that really works to represent this white
shirt.
"We probably won't be flawless and perfect in every
moment but together with them we can achieve a really good season.
"This is what we want to do and I can guarantee that my
players can't wait to represent for our supporters the shirt and to feel this
unity on the pitch again."
Asked earlier what the aspirations were for the new season,
Farke said: "First of all it's also important to start as well as possible
into the season and to also keep in mind where we are coming from and also to
keep in mind what the past has told us.
"The past has told us that to add a second solid season
on Premier League level is difficult and especially for a promoted side the
second year after promotion.
"Let's be honest, in the last years the first year
after promotion was a big hurdle anyhow and we were together with the
Sunderland the first team who has broken this curse last season and we were
very happy with this.
"But also in the past very often the second year after
promotion was difficult because the first rhythm is a bit away and expectations
are a bit higher and perhaps some players don't have a point to prove any more
and this is a very dangerous year.
"So for that our first and foremost target is to
achieve 40 points and to make sure that we earn again also the right to stay in
the best league in the world and to add another solid season.
"This is the first target we concentrate on and if
there is more to achieve then it's step by step but we stay quite humble and
realistic and we know that a difficult season lies ahead.”
