Leeds United unveil new sporting director and boardroom restructure upon Angus Kinnear exit — Leeds Live 29/4/25
The 49ers have sanctioned a shake-up of the boardroom ahead of the new season amid the pending exit of CEO Angus Kinnear
Leeds United have announced that Adam Underwood will be
promoted to sporting director amid a swathe of boardroom changes ahead of the
exit of Angus Kinnear as CEO this summer.
Kinnear will join Everton after an eight-year stay at Elland
Road, having overseen two promotions and the transition of ownership to 49ers
Enterprises. With his exit confirmed in March, the club conducted a review of
the boardroom structure.
Underwood has occupied several roles during his spell at
Leeds, which stretches over a decade, including head of football operations and
academy manager. He will now lead the club’s recruitment drive to his
responsibilities.
He will also spearhead player trading, football operations,
performance and medical management and the Leeds United academy. Other changes
see chief operating officer Morrie Eisenberg promoted to chief business
officer.
Chief strategy officer Robbie Evans, who currently takes
charge of the recruitment and football analytics departments, will take up the
role of managing director. Evans played a key role in the $1.2 billion
construction of the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in 2014.
Chairman Paraag Marathe said: "I am excited to welcome
this group into their new roles as leaders of the club.
“These appointments are a recognition of the depth of our
leadership team, our significant sporting and business achievements over the
past two seasons, and our commitment to building a high-performing club led by
individuals who represent Leeds United inside and out. I am confident they will
help drive the club forward in this next chapter."
