Leeds United three-man Daniel Farke replacement shortlist revealed ahead of Paraag Marathe talks — Leeds Live 28/4/25
The latest Leeds United news as speculation continues to surround the future of Daniel Farke amid reputed planned talks with club chairman Paraag Marathe imminent
Leeds United have reportedly sounded out three potential
replacements for Daniel Farke amid uncertainty about the German boss' future.
The club's chairman, Paraag Marathe, seems set to be at
Elland Road on Monday evening amid claims of a flight from San Francisco
earlier in the day. Such plans are understood to have always been in place for
the final home match of the season.
However, amid speculation about the future of Farke
following Leeds achieving Premier League promotion, names of possible
contenders are now emerging.
Three new names, who are notably out of work or soon due to
be once this season ends, emerged on Monday as being of interest to Elland Road
chiefs.
The Guardian claims initial soundings have been made toward
Davide Ancelotti, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roger Schmid. Ancelotti, who
turns 36 this season, is a Real Madrid assistant coach alongside his father,
Carlo. However, The Athletic reported over the weekend that he has decided to
begin his head coaching career.
Ancelotti Sr will reportedly become the next Brazil national
team coach after leaving Madrid at the end of this season. His son will
reputedly only join him with the national team in the absence of any desirable
offers.
There is seemingly less speculation about Van Bronckhorst
and Schmidt. Besiktas sacked the former in late November six months after
appointing the ex-Rangers manager on a two-year contract with the option for a
third.
The team were at the time sat sixth in the Super Lig table
but are now fourth under his replacement, former Manchester United boss Ole
Gunnar Solskjaer.
Meanwhile, Schmidt was most recently in charge of Benfica
for two years until being sacked in late August.
The former Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg and PSV coach
was under contract until the end of next season, but lost his job after failing
to win two of their opening four matches this season.
