2024/25 Goal of the Season: Ao Tanaka
Midfielder's strike against Hull City wins award.
Ao Tanaka’s stunning strike away against Hull City has been
voted as the Leeds United Goal of the Season.
Behind at the MKM Stadium, the Japanese international drew
Daniel Farke’s side level with a memorable finish from the edge of the area
that arrowed into the top corner.
The award-winning goal was Tanaka’s first of a terrific
maiden campaign for United, with the impressive midfielder going on to finish
with a tally of five to his name.
Elsewhere, Ao has received recognition by being named in the
Sky Bet Championship Team of the Year after a fine season in West Yorkshire.
Also nominated for the award were Manor Solomon (versus
Preston North End), Joël Piroe (versus Sheffield United), Dan James (versus
Luton Town) and Pascal Struijk (versus Sheffield United).
Congratulations Ao!
2024/25 Young Player of the Year: Willy Gnonto
Attacker collects the award.
Leeds United are delighted to announce that Willy Gnonto has
been named the club’s Young Player of the Year for the 2024/25 campaign.
The 21-year-old has impressed throughout this term for the
Whites, making 43 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and scoring nine
goals.
Gnonto opened his account for the season with a well-taken
effort against Portsmouth on the opening day and would cause problems for
defences throughout with his pace, trickery and creativity.
The Italian international has been in scintillating form to
end a tremendous campaign for United, scoring in memorable Elland Road
victories against Stoke City and Bristol City as promotion to the Premier
League was secured.
Then, on the final day, the forward netted a timely
equaliser against Plymouth Argyle before assisting Manor Solomon’s incredible
last-gasp winner to crown Daniel Farke’s side as champions!
Elsewhere, the attacker has received recognition with his
country, making three appearances for Italy’s Under-21s team to add to his
international honours.
Congratulations Willy!
2024/25 Players’ Player of the Year: Ao Tanaka
Midfielder voted for by his teammates.
Leeds United are thrilled to announce that Ao Tanaka has
been named the Players’ Player of the Year for the 2024/25 campaign.
In an outstanding first campaign for the club, the Japanese
international has been one of the standout performers across the division,
playing a crucial role in helping Daniel Farke’s side secure the Sky Bet
Championship title.
Brought in from 2. Bundesliga outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf last
summer, the midfielder has made 45 appearances across all competitions for the
Whites this term, scoring five goals.
One of those strikes has already seen the 26-year-old gain
recognition this evening, with Ao’s stunning finish away against Hull City
being voted by supporters as the club’s Goal of the Season.
Tanaka was also commended at the recent EFL Awards, being
named in the Championship’s Team of the Season to crown a stellar start to his
time in West Yorkshire.
Congratulations Ao!
2024/25 Women’s Player of the Year: Amy Woodruff
18-goal striker collects the accolade.
Following a tremendous campaign in front of goal, Amy
Woodruff has been named Leeds United Women’s Player of the Season for 2024/25.
The striker is a deserved winner of the prestigious award,
following a superb term in front of goal which has seen the forward net 18
times in just 21 appearances in the FA WNL Division One North.
Having already enjoyed a stellar spell with the club
previously, the Barnsley-born attacker rejoined the Whites at the start of the
campaign, having taken time out of the game to welcome her newborn son into the
world.
Since returning to the action, Amy’s tally of 18 has helped
fire United to a fourth-place finish in the final league standings, as well as
seeing her crowned joint-winner of the league’s Golden Boot award.
A strong and pacy attacker, Woodruff was at her deadly best
in last weekend’s final fixture, grabbing a brace against rivals York City
Ladies away from home, having reopened her account for the club with a header
against Stockport County back in September.=
Having fended off competition from a number of her
teammates, Leeds United would like to congratulate Amy on a fantastic season
with the club.
Congratulations Amy!
2024/25 Lifetime Achievement Award: Paul Reaney
Iconic defender recognised.
Leeds United are honoured to announce that legendary
defender Paul Reaney has been recognised for his services to the club with a
Lifetime Achievement Award.
The iconic full-back made almost 750 appearances for the
club during a stellar career, proving to be an integral part of the great Leeds
United side that dominated English football in the 1960s and 70s.
Making his debut under Don Revie before turning 18, Reaney
would win the Second Division in his maiden campaign in what would be the first
title of many.
Throughout his time in West Yorkshire, the defender won the
First Division on two occasions, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Charity
Shield, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups and was a runner up in the European Cup of
1975.
A familiar face to many still on a matchday, the club are
proud to have Paul as part of the legends team that meets with hospitality
guests at Elland Road.
Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate one of
the true icons of the club on his achievements.
Congratulations Paul!
2024/25 Player of the Year: Daniel James
Forward wins the award.
Leeds United are delighted to announce that Daniel James has
been named Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
The accolade comes after a fine campaign for the Wales
international, who has scored 12 times and recorded nine assists in 36 Sky Bet
Championship appearances.
A standout performer across the division, the 27-year-old
was also named in the league's Team of the Season at the recent EFL Awards.
The winger began the term strongly, notably scoring his
first goal in the Yorkshire Derby victory over Sheffield Wednesday at
Hillsborough and would continue to put in blistering performances game after
game.
Arguably James’ finest display came in the Whites’ trip to
Vicarage Road where two impressive strikes in Hertfordshire helped United to a
4-0 triumph over Watford.
A stunning finish at Luton Town proved crucial in the run
in, alongside the winner against Middlesbrough in the following fixture, with a
final appearance coming from the bench against Oxford United on Good Friday.
Following an outstanding season with the club, Daniel has
been recognised with this award which was voted for by the Leeds United
fanbase.
Congratulations DJ!
