Leeds United face transfer hurdle due to Norwich City's £20m 'demand' — Yorkshire Post 31/7/24

A deal for Norwich City star Gabriel Sara may be beyond Leeds United, according to reports.

The midfielder is among the Championship’s most revered midfielders and stood out for the Canaries last term. Since the end of the 2023/24 season, he has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road.

Leeds have been reported to be among his admirers, although HITC have suggested a move for the 25-year-old may not be possible. Norwich will reportedly want £20m for Sara, which could prove steep for the Whites as they look to ensure they are financially responsible.

However, if Leeds lose any more of their prized assets, there could be more funding for such a deal. Crysencio Summerville has been linked with a Premier League switch, as has fellow winger Wilfried Gnonto.

Leeds have already generated significant income this summer, selling teenage sensation Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £40m. They have also parted ways with Glen Kamara, allowing the Finland international to join French side Rennes.

Recruitment in midfield appears necessary at Elland Road and the Whites have also been linked with Dejan Ljubičić of German side FC Cologne and Birmingham City’s Jordan James. The club have already signed attack-minded midfielder Joe Rothwell on loan from AFC Bournemouth.

Leeds United board break silence after transfer window with statement on upcoming Elland Road development — YEP 2/9/24

By Joe Donnohue Leeds United have confirmed supporters' commemorative stones at Elland Road's Centenary Square will be replaced free of charge in a bid to improve their longevity. Beginning next month, Leeds supporters' personalised stones will be replaced with exact replicas, courtesy of a new company, to ensure of a 'much better quality' installation. The work is expected to take around two months to complete. By Graham Smyth Leeds United are not actively looking to cash in on Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto and believe any further outgoing transfer business will be done on their terms. The Whites, who sold Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday for £40m, expect that there will be continued interest in wing pair Summerville and Gnonto as the summer transfer window progresses. Summerville has been a target for Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion but their interest has not yet materialised into a bid. The Albion did, however, send a £30m proposal for Georginio Rutter, which Elland Road chiefs rejected. Rutter is not expected to try and force an exit this summer and appears settled at Leeds after a far more positive second season in English football.
