Leeds United: Bellusci misses Boro clash
Yorkshire Evening Post 15/8/14
New Leeds United signing Giuseppe Bellusci will be denied a debut against Middlesbrough tomorrow after his international clearance failed to arrive on time.
Bellusci, who joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Catania on Tuesday, was bidding for a starting place at Elland Road but will be left out of David Hockaday’s squad while United wait for paperwork to arrive from Italy.
Leeds said the delay in securing international clearance was due to today being an Italian bank holiday.
The 24-year-old’s absence could see Liam Cooper start in the centre of defence after a midweek move from Chesterfield and new striker Billy Sharp is also in line for a debut up front.
But Swiss right-back Gaetano Berardi begins a three-match ban this weekend after his red card in Tuesday’s League Cup win over Accrington Stanley.
