Hockaday enthused by positive show

Yorkshire Evening Post 2/8/14
HEAD COACH David Hockaday says Leeds United could take plenty of positives from the 2-0 home victory over Dundee United - as his side rounded off their pre-season programme in encouraging fashion,
An early tap-in by Steve Morison and a late second from sub Dominic Poleon secured a deserved victory, as United carried on from their much-improved midweek victory at Swindon Town with another good showing against their Scottish visitors in front of a crowd of 10,115.
Hockaday, leading operations from the home dug-out in his first match in charge at Elland Road, said: “There were plenty of positives today.
“I have promised the fans that every player who pulls on the Leeds shirt - whether it be white, gold or navy blue, whatever it is - will put in a shift and honest performance.
“I know that is the bare minimum Leeds United fans will expect. But I believe that the players have more quality than even they maybe believe.
“I believe in the players and we are getting better.
“Although we have loads to work on still. But we showed we are a honest team today with all the tracking back we did and tackling back. All the bare essentials that a good team needs.”
Meanwhile, Hockaday confirmed that Aidy White is facing up to eight weeks out of action with a scan revealing that he suffered a fracture of his foot in the 2-2 draw at Chesterfield last weekend.
Alex Mowatt, who picked up a thigh niggle in midweek, should return to training next week, Hockaday said, with United picking up no fresh injuries in the win over Dundee United.
Leeds kick off their Championship programme at Millwall next Saturday.
