I Saw Who Swum and Who Sank – Leeds Boss David Hockaday Learns From Millwall Defeat
Inside Futbol 9/8/14
Leeds United manager David Hockaday has suggested he has learned much about his players from the side's 2-0 Championship defeat against Millwall earlier today.
Hockaday's men were well-beaten by the London side, whose Den home was a tough place for the Whites to impose themselves.
Goals came for the hosts in the 8th and 88th minutes, as Hockaday's first official match in charge of Leeds ended in disappointment.
However, all was not lost in the manager's view, with valuable insights having been gained into which of his players can swim and which may sink in pressure situations.
"There is lots to work on but I have learned a lot about the players because we were playing in a cauldron here and some coped better than others", the former Forest Green Rovers boss was quoted as saying by the BBC.
Millwall boss Ian Holloway meanwhile was keen to emphasise his side's superiority over Leeds, with the match proving to be a perfect first Championship game of the campaign for the London outfit.
"We had double their shots on target and we have done that to Leeds United and I am really pleased for my team", said Holloway.
"People win 6-0 and 8-0 on the opening day and go on to have bad seasons so I just want to be consistent for my lads, if I was allowed a bet I would, because are odds to get relegated are a disgrace."
