Last week Benito Carbone joined the club as a consultant to deal with technical and football operations, and the former midfielder is keen to take his chance.
Benito will mainly deal with the Academy and the former Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City man admits that the club has some good footballers in its ranks.
“Mr Cellino has given me a big chance to work for a big club like Leeds United,” said Benito. “Leeds is still a big club and everybody knows that.
“My position is to work with the Academy and the structure of the Academy. Mr Cellino wants to do the best for the Academy. And I want to do what is best for the Academy.
“In the last four weeks I have watched the Academy teams three or four times and I’ll be honest, we have some really good players here.
“We want to bring as many Academy players into the first team as possible. Maybe in three or four years there will be five or six players playing in the first team.
“I think everybody will like that, I think that the fans will like that. We need to do well at Academy level and then in the future there will be a lot of players in the first team.”
Benito will cover all football matters and says that everyone involved with the club needs to create “a family” and move in the same direction.
“We have a good side, we have good players and we have a good manager,” added Carbone. “But we need to do better next season.
“At the moment we don’t want to say that we are going to win this or win that, we have to promise the fans that we are going to do our best.
“It is very important to build a family at the club. Everybody needs to think in the same way. Everyone at the club from the manager, the coaches, the players and the fans, we must build the family.”
